Washi top, purse, and tote in Fantasia Fabric line by Sara Lawson!

Sara Lawson of Sew Sweetness was super generous and sent me two yards of this lovely gorgeousness--her new fabric line FANTASIA.

It's so gorgeous, and completely different than her previous fabric line (which I also adored) Jungle Ave. Totally wild how a mind can conceive such different styles, producing a cohesive collection unrelated to previous work...isn't it? I think it's a modern miracle.

My favorite cartoon (if you'd call it that) is Fantasia, since -like- forever....My kids know it by heart. Whenever I play my Classic FM on the radio Mia will shout "It's FANTASIA!" when they play The Nutcracker Suite by Tchaikovsky or The Rite of Spring by Stravinsky. When Sara mentioned on her blog that it's her favorite one as well I felt such kinship. Funny, how these little things bind us together in ways, you know? Even if we are only "virtual" friends at the moment, it's real to me. 

My BFF Leslie came over for the morning (I love surprise latte visits!)--so I made asked her to model this Washi Top for me, made with said Fantasia fabric. I think this is my fourth or fifth Washi now, I can't remember as all my things are still packed up from the move--but I learn something new each time and each one gets better. 

It was late and I was feeling the sewing vibe, so this little coin pouch came into being sporting a vintage sparkly button closure, as Downton is on tonight and it's the season finale! Boooo! I will SO miss the Downton crew. They give me hope for humanity with all the manners and gentleness of the bygone era. That could come back....if we tried...

After that quick sew, I decided it needed a bag/tote to go in, so I threw together a patchwork bag tote with the remnants left over. I mixed in a muslin and canvas fabric and layered it with batting so it's nice and squishy.

I'll share my pattern for this super simple patchwork tote very soon. I use mine a lot, especially in the car to de-clutter all my cr*p. Why does so much collect in a vehicle I ask? Whyyyy?

I tried to fussy cut the remnants as much as possible. It's amazing what you can get out of 2 yards!
