I'm always hungry by 3:30-4pm.
This happens without fail, every.single.day.
I am trying to teach my little girls healthy eating habits, without being a crazy person....
(enter humus/humous/hummmmus)
Humus is so healthy, and I make it low fat by omitting the oil.
I cut up veg and serve it for a snack.
My kids eat it like candy. For realz.
It will only take you 5 minutes.
Then 5 minutes to cut up veg.
Super-duper easy.
Ingredients:
2 cans garbanzo beans/chick peas
bunch of torn up basil leaves
1/2 cup tahini (This is sesame paste and can be found in most grocers.)
3 cloves garlic, cut up tiny or else mince it. (I broke my mincer.)
juice of two lemons
1 tsp tumeric
1 tsp cumin
course salt / sea salt/ Kosher salt to taste
Put all that stuff in a blender. Blend, blend, blend. You might have to scrape down the sides a few times.
Add about 1/2 cup of water to bring it to a nice consistency. Taste, and add more spice if need be.
Some people add 2 tbs of olive oil, but I don't like "eating" oil I can see, so I don't add it. I find it's no different really- in taste at all.
*Olive oil is healthy in omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, so don't fret if you prefer to add it. It's good for your heart in moderate quantities.
I have a "nutrition psychopath" past. I'm way over it. I like my Doritos, thank you. ;)
Gasp! Is my blender always that yucky looking? Ewwwwwwwe-aaaa.
All that deliciousness: fiber, vitamins, minerals, protein, and the added bonus of veg eating.
YUM.
I'm off to meditate with Terence Yallop now. (Love him!) He's absolutely soothing, and my brain is always on fire so I neeeeeeeed the calming voice of a meditating - British accented - yogi person. LOL
See you ♥
This will be nibbles for Friday night "at the movies" AKA slobbing on the sofa watching chewing gum for the brain, any old movie that takes our fancy. Tonight's choice is Kangeroo Jack followed by National Lampoon's Animal House.
ReplyDeleteSounds heavenly Pam. I just LOVE movie night at home on the sofa. :) xx
