Bib necklaces (a tutorial too)

Bib necklaces are all the rage here in Europe.
It seems everyone wants to make a statement.
I'm jumpin' on the fashion train.

Made with vintage baubles and felt.

 Fabric rosettes,charm,and felt.

Have you seen this site? Super fun!

What To Wear

Let's not forget how cute Buttons are:

Want to make one?

Cut out a half circle and make a template
with cardstock or paper.

Mine is 5 1/2 inches across the top and 3 1/2 inches top to bottom.
In centemeters: 15x10

Cut out 2 pieces of felt from this template.

Get out your needle & floss (embroidery thread or thick sewing threads work well).

Pick out some pretty buttons in various sizes.

Start stitching them on to ONE piece of felt. Tie a knot in back to secure the button on.

Once you have them all sewn on, this is what the back will look like:

Ewwww-we will fix this later.

Now cut your ribbon necklace, two pieces measuring about 18 inches in length (each). That's about 46 cm.

Use your pinking shears and trim the edges to prevent fraying.
I also used "fray check" on both ends:

(let it dry a bit)

Tuck your ribbon ends in between the two layers of felt and pin in place. Sandwich the layers together and carefully glue them together with a hot glue gun.

Once glued and dried, trim the outer perimeter if need be.

So simple, so cute.....
You could line the buttons up, make rows of a single color, or even sew a few buttons on and leave the rest open. Possibilities!
