Ten pounds of flour in a week, oh my.
We have baked and cooked ourselves through ten pounds of flour in one week.
I blame Daddy's return from a six month tour.
He neeeeeds home cooking, right?
Besides, it's good for the soul, to make food with your hands and a few ingredients.
It makes me feel........worthy. Does it you? Do you feel in touch with your ancestors? Do you step back in disbelief that you are able to make pasta from flour, eggs, and water? Does the miracle of actually "whipping" the single cream and adding sugar make you sigh with delight?
Or am I the only one? Am I getting too deep here? Are all these question marks annoying you like they are me? Yes?
Feel free to chortle.
Lemon Blueberry Pancakes with raspberries on top.
Most of these recipes can be found on my Pinterest cooking board.
Chewy Lemon Sugar cookies
Let's be honest, some were chewy and some were..shall we say--crispy. Blame the oven, it's not my fault. I never forget about cookies in the oven. Nope, not me. (Shrugging shoulders with raised eyebrows, looking sideways, whistling...you get the picture.)
Caught in the act! Good thing it was the last batch (promise, it was---really).
My husband set up a laptop in the kitchen ('cause he wants to keep me in there I suspect)...I watch documentaries while I cook. Keeps my mind busy.
I ♥ the Dalai
Scones from scratch (from Granny's Best recipe book printed in Britain). Thanks Von ;)
Have I shared these Dino muffins yet? We've baked them three times this week, I detect a pattern. I put poppy seeds in them hoping to subdue the children while on holiday. (That Wizard of Oz is so misleading.) Oh well, it was worth a try, bahahaha! Oh don't judge, you know you've thought of drugging your kids after two weeks of spring break. Uh huh.
My personal fave--Super Duper Chocolate Mint cookies. These are so delish. *I always double the amount of chocolate chips called for. You do too, right? I mean c'mon, more IS better, when it comes to chocolate. Just sayin'.
yum yum yum yum....
For the past two weeks, breakfast every day has been either waffles, pancakes, eggs & bacon, or scones. I'm about through with all this cooking.....
(I don't even eat breakfast, don't like it at all, totally unfair.)
Now if it were a cheese platter....then we'd be talking.
Home made gnudi, which is like gnocchi but made with spinach filling instead of potato.
Only Ruby and I ate it. Figures.
This recipe is in Meatless ...one of my "go-to" cookbooks. I love everything in there, so far.
From scratch pizza, a constant request. I make the crust from a recipe out of an Italian cookbook. Totally easy, and tastes SO much better than store bought. Just yeast, flour, semolina flour, salt, and water. BAM.
I think Pioneer Woman has a good recipe for pizza crust in her cookbook too. Well, now she has a couple cookbooks out, and her website is a treasure trove of cookery.
Needless to say, I'm about to embark on a cleanse and exercise regime to snap back into business. LOL
Time to go sew!
(That counts as exercise, right?)
